How often should I get my jewellery checked for maintenance?

If there are items of jewellery that you wear often or daily, we recommend bringing it in to be looked at by the jeweller every 12 months to be sure everything is in working order as knocks and pulls and day-to-day business can wear down rings especially, and stones may become loose.

How long to do jewellery repairs normally take?

Repairs usually take around 3-4 business days to complete. Sometimes it can be quicker (e.g. re-glue a stone) or longer (e.g. remodelling rings). We aim to have repairs ready for Tuesdays and Fridays, however, sometimes unforeseen postage delays for parts and work load can affect our estimated completion time and we always appreciate your patients.

WATCH QUESTIONS:

How often should a watch battery be changed?

The first battery in a watch from purchase usually lasts the longest. After that, we estimate that a battery should last anywhere from 12 months to 24 months, (the age of a watch can also determine how long a battery may last).

My watch glass is scratched/cracked/needs replacing, can you do that?

We have a variety of different suppliers so we have the ability to source new glass for all popular branded watches. The price may vary depending on the complexity of the glass shape and whether it needs to be hand cut but bringing in your watch to get a free quote costs you nothing so drop past to clarify any query!

What is pressure testing?

Pressure testing is recommended for all watches with a water resistance of 50m (5atm/bar) or more in order to guarantee it's use in water again after a repair is done. The seals around the glass, buttons and the case back are the most common areas where moisture may get into a watch and these seals begin to wear over time. To get into a watch, most commonly to replace a battery, the seal is removed and can no longer be guaranteed water resistant and will need pressure testing.

Do we custom make jewellery?

Yes We pride ourselves on the uniqueness of creating designs for our customers. We have designed rings, pendants, earrings and brooches for our clientele and we love seeing new ideas come to life.

Do we replace watch bands?

We have a range of both leather watch bands and metal bands in store. If there isn't a band you like or your watch requires a particular style, we can order in parts from most companies to suit your needs. We stock a large range of spring bars to fix the bands on.

My watch has stopped/been dropped/got water in it...what should I do?

BRING IT IN! We give free quotes on all repairs so it costs you nothing to get a professional to look at what could be causing an issue. If your watch has gotten water in it, drop it in to the watch maker immediately so it can be dried out and then he can assess what damage has been done.
